Canadian housing starts

Canadian seasonally adjusted housing starts increased to 229,700 units in February of 2018 from 215,300 in January, beating market expectations of 217,000. Urban starts increased 7.1 percent to 211,211 units; multiple urban starts rose 15 percent to 154,535 units while single-detached urban starts fell 9.8 percent to 56,676 units. Meanwhile, rural starts were estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 18,526 units. Housing Starts in Canada averaged 185.12 thousand from 1977 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 291.60 thousand in March of 1978 and a record low of 90.70 Thousand in August of 1982.
